 I am often asked what kind of support we can offer or is required for a new build or capital project , MCA Coopers can offer a comprehensive financial management support package to colleges involved in capital projects or pursuing a new build scheme and also, through our Aries partnership, offer access to all the skills required for the completion of a successful new build project.

MCA provide support, advice and guidance throughout and prepare the financial forecasts that will be presented to the LSC along with the various funding scenarios that are required to maximise the capital support that is acquired for new build and capital projects. In common with all other areas of our work we work closely with college managers to ensure that the financial forecasts which are used to make the case for the scheme and to secure LSC capital project support funding are in harmony with the educational case for the scheme. A key feature of our role is to challenge assumptions thereby ensuring that important questions have been addressed before the new build or capital project schemes are presented to the National Capital Committee.

It is essential that the forecasts are presented in a format that maximises the College’s chances of achieving a successful new build outcome and are viewed by everyone as being representative and realistic.

Knowledge of LSC processes and procedures is essential, as is a good relationship with key LSC staff involved in the LSC decision-making process. MCA Coopers can offer both of these. We have an excellent relationship with key personnel in the LSC who are involved in capital projects and new build and have substantial experience of successful outcomes in this area. We can use our knowledge of the LSC and our contacts to fast-track the college to a successful solution with its new build project.
