MCA Cooper Associates in line for Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Consultant of the Year Award
After its proposed merger with Exeter College fell through Bicton College in Devon found itself with the need to urgently fill a number of its senior management positions and to start on the development of a Recovery Plan. The Principal immediately turned to MCA Cooper Associates to provide interim support in several key positions and also to guide the College through the recovery process.
MCA Cooper Associates were able to have staff in the College within 24 hours with no prior warning of the Colleges requirements, the interim staff included a Finance Director, Head of HR, an IT manager, a College Accountant and support for the MIS function In addition two senior MCA Coopers consultants started immediate work on the development of a Recovery Plan.
The Principal was so delighted with not only the speed of response, but the quality of the personnel brought in he decided to take the opportunity to recommend MCA Cooper Associates for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Consultant of the Year award. The winner will be announced at an award ceremony run by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in November.

MCA Cooper Associates deliver a well received seminar at the LSIS Governors conference in Birmingham on the 18-25 March 2010
At the recent LSIS conference entitled "Leadership Skills for Governance" Malcolm Cooper and Neil Reed delivered an hour long paper to a selection of Governors, Clerks and Principals. The paper entitled "The role of governors and clerks during improvement/recovery planning" sought to give the audience detailed guidance on what the Governors should look for and be aware of when discussing improvement or recovery plans with senior college management.
LSIS are seeking to assist colleges through the current difficulties and believe, that as part of LSIS overall strategy, colleges need to be well informed about how they can get through the current difficult times. LSIS therefore recognised that as the leading organisation in developing improvement and recovery plans in the sector the MCA Coopers team were ideally placed to deliver the seminar on behalf of LSIS.
The feedback from LSIS has been very positive and at the end of the session a number delegates were keen to discuss the presentation in further detail.

MCA Cooper Associates Efficiency Review of Belfast Metropolitan College is Published by the Department for Employment and Learning in Northern Ireland
Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey, commented on the final report and said: “This report will help provide the stability that Belfast Metropolitan College needs to allow it to continue to deliver high quality skills training to young people in the Greater Belfast area and beyond"

MCA passes milestone in its rapid growth throughout the FE sector
