MCA Premium Partners
MCA Premium Partners is a concept that MCA introduced about nine years ago, it is very simple but affords benefits to all those who are involved and this is how it works:

If MCA receive a request for specialist input in an area that is fast moving e.g. FE Safeguarding and if we do not have suitably experienced and qualified people in our team, we approach our Premium Partner Colleges to see if they do have the expertise. If they do and they are willing to supply it to us we bring the relevant member of their team into ours for the duration and pay the College, or the individual the market rate. Simple!

Malcolm Cooper, MD of MCA comments:
'Everyone benefits, the Client College obtains the necessary advice/support, the individual enhances their CV, the College earns some much-needed income and MCA are able to satisfy our Client’s requirements'.

We are always looking for new Premium Partners. It is free to join. Why not ring us for more information.
It’s Important to Make a Contribution!
For College finances to remain healthy, it is vital that overheads are adequately covered. Do you know if this is true of all of the activities your College is involved in? Do they all make a reasonable return for the costs involved? Do they all indeed actually cover their costs? Many colleges we have worked with, over the years, have found benefits in undertaking a review to look at the financial contribution being made by different activities, sites, curriculum areas, departments, A level subjects etc. The analysis can be used to look at various different views.

Often such a review leads to significant improvements in a College’s bottom line. Contributions analyses become of paramount importance where restructuring is being carried out. For a college to be sure that any restructuring will lead to real, sustainable improvements requires a guarantee that all those activities that remain after the restructure will contribute as they should. This can only be gained by undertaking a contributions analysis. Indeed the analysis carried out in this way can often lead to a different view of what should go and what should stay!

At MCA over the years, we have developed this as a specialism. We have come across many examples of colleges in which we have been told that contributions analyses have already been produced, but which when we examine the results demonstrate that they are flawed in some aspect. As management accountants, we hold dear certain fundamental principles about how contributions should be calculated. Done correctly, they can save a college, done badly they can be disastrous.

Why not contact us to find out how we might be able to help you solve your bottom line.

Process Mapping Can Improve Your Bottom Line!

Covid-19 has forced rethinks in many areas not least of which is a college’s processes. The way everything was done before has needed to be rethought.

In fact even before we all learned about lockdowns, social distancing and the R number, it is true to say that many college processes were not designed, but evolved, often in a very ad hoc way, with changes in circumstances and personnel making matters worse. Where major reorganisations and mergers happen, this can lead to a situation in which the original process no longer fits the revised organisation structure. In this situation the personnel involved often need to find a workaround solution. This is stressful, inefficient and almost always expensive. Problems also occur where processes are not adequately documented and key members of the team leave, taking with them valuable procedural knowledge.

MCA Map Pro provides an ideal and totally transparent way to harmonise, re-align and/or just generally improve processes to effect beneficial change.

MCA Map Pro is more than just revolutionary, market leading process mapping software. It is a whole support system including input from trained process mapping specialists. Our consultants will undertake the initial mapping exercise and train your personnel on how to get the best from the software.
